Advanced AI

After watching IBM's Watson compete on Jeopardy, I became very interesting in programming my own AI. I have created many attempts, but none of them are very good. So I turned to the Scratch Forums.

The idea is to build the most advanced AI that is possible considering the limits of Scratch. It should be able to answer questions about the world, not just about itself. It will NOT a chatbot.

In order to make this work, we are going to need more than one person. Here is the list of positions:

Project Director:

-MelonInc

Programmers:

Processing Programmers:

-Open
-Open
-Open (Only if necessary)

Speech Synthesis Programmers:

-Open
-Open (Only if necessary)

Artists:

-roxychoclate
-Open (Only if necessary)

Speech Synthesis Voice

-samurai768

Remember, this is a single project, not a company, so there will be not be any other high ranking positions.

I am going to need at least 3 highly advanced programmers. You will either be programming the thought processing system, or the speech synthesis program.

I will also need at least 1 detailed and creative artist to design the icon for the AI. This is what will be displayed on the screen. It needs to be able to change based upon the sureness of the system.

If you want to be a programmer, please fill out this job application:

What will you be programming? (Processing or Speech)

What kind of programming do you specialize in?

How often will you be programming? (Out of 7 days)

What project best displays your skills at what you will be programming? (Link to project)

Any other notes you would like to add:

If you want to be an artist, please fill out this job application:

What kind of art do you specialize in?

Can you incorporate part of the programming into the art?

What project best displays your art? (Link to project)

The AI's name will be Elie. If you can, design what your icon will look like. It can change later. (Link to project)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Notes:

-I have created a prototype of the system basing the system on an elephant. (Artist, I don't want the final project to be any type of character. If you need ideas, I want my icon to be like Watson's.)

Future Uses:

-Use it like IBM used Watson and create a compatible game system. (Like Jeopardy!)

Again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Re: Advanced AI

There is no way to make a true AI. You can't have it answer questions about the world. It would go above 10 MB, if you tried.

Re: Advanced AI

What kind of art do you specialize in? Well I will start scanning my drawings in real life which are better than my scratch drawings

Can you incorporate part of the programming into the art? yes

What project best displays your art?

Well thats obvious. But the idea is that it processes information like our brains, instead of having programmed responses. I want to make it so that it can write out its own response using the information that it found.

Hmm. Interesting ideas. Right now I can't edit my post so I can't add you to my post but your Artist #1. Can you start designing the cleverbot with a brain one? Make it so it changes somehow based on the sureness of the system.

Re: Advanced AI

ok I will here are some things we could do
make a variable called mood and have lists saying insults, compliments, facts and I can program that part to fit my graphics

Re: Advanced AI

It's going to be set up completely differently. But I think that you should have something like the top of a head with the brain showing and the brain changes color based on a variable called sureness. The sureness variable will be set based on how sure the system is of its answer. If you want you can base your drawing of of my prototype: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/MelonInc/2616732

Re: Advanced AI

I've got the exact same ambition, my friend. However, I'm inexperience in this sort of field so I won't be of much help to you. Maybe in a month or two...but 'm definetly interested.

If anybody ever signs up to help build this system you can help test our system if you want.
