Swear filter

Can my project be flagged for bad language if it contains a list of swear words for use in censoring user input?

I used the "hidden sprite" glitch to hide my sprite and its list of swear words. So the cuss words should NOT be visible to the casual downloader. But i'd like to know if I am still at risk for being reported or not.

Re: Swear filter

I think it would be ok, just be sure to hide it very well (like put in a list called "Do not look at this list" or something).

I'm sure it's fine, just put a notice in a comment. I wouldn't have the nerve to type those  tongue

Yeah.
However, I had the nerve to put it on the Mod Share forums (most common bad words are censored).
Btw, my little post count browser extension tells me that this is my 1000th post! Say hello to my 1000+ post count after my next post!  smile

You've made an extension to show post counts?

It's just a little thing that shows my post count at the top of the page.

Oh, right. I thought you meant it reversed the "500+" thing.

Off topic much?

Re: Swear filter

Sorry.

I suppose it should be fine, especially since the list is stored in a hidden sprite, but you should probably still put in the project notes that there's a hidden sprite containing swears.

That doesn't really answer my question though, which was if the project would be at risk for being reported / removed.

If I put in the notes that it contained swear words, someone would probably flag it immediately and then what? Am I exempted because the swears are hidden and used for a good cause?

It will get flagged, but only because people will be too ignorant to not jump to conclusions. Being flagged and being a bad project are different things.

TL;DR - it'll get flagged but'll stay up.
