Loading...

We've all seen it by now, and I've frankly gotten a bit tired of it.
The loading bar:

          Loading
-----------------------
llllllllllllllllllllllll
-----------------------

On other game sites the people who make the games get to make their own loading screen that has to do with the game or whatever.
So why don't we?
The only problem I've run into is that in order to know what the loading screen is, the computer has to load the loading screen.

So what do you think?
Possible?

Exactly. That's the main problem. And it's not just that it has to load the loading screen, we would also need to have code for loading the loading screen. Also what will it show while loading the loading screen? I think it gets too complicated. I'd rather see Scratch adding other features.

Re: Loading...

Ooh...

I know what if each user could have their own loading screen for every project they make! Or see. Like the pictures people have!
Yeah, like that...

Re: Loading...

What about using the standard loading screen, but if there is a background named "(loading)", including ( and ), use that one. You don't have to do it, so young children will not get problems with it, I think.

Ofcourse. there are more important things to do...

Re: Loading...

The "loading" screen is provided from the Java applet, before it is has gotten the .sb file with the project.  To provide a different "loading" screen would require that the .sb file be organized such that the loading image would be downloaded first, and the java applet would have to be changed so that it would look in the .sb file before it finished downloading.  This seems like a lot of trouble for very little benefit.
