Is it possible to install on & run off of a USB drive?

Re: Scratch on a stick?

If you install Scratch using the MSI installer on one computer and set its location to be the drive, the program will work on other computers but certain functions will only be available on the computer you ran the installer on.

Not to worry though, the features are not essential to the program's functions!

Nevertheless I recommend downloading the files-only ZIP if you're going to use the USB stick.

What are the features that wouldn't work?

But yeah, do the files-only version if you want to run from a USB stick or CD.

Re: Scratch on a stick?

Most likely, yes.

You could save it on dropbox or something though.

Re: Scratch on a stick?

A while ago, I packaged a PortableApps.com version of Scratch to make it easier to run from a USB flash drive. It has all the sprites and everything on it too. Here.

Still, you don't need a modified version to run it off a flash drive.

Re: Scratch on a stick?

If you can run it off of a CD (great gift idea!) you can run it on a stick. Which you can.  smile

Just copy the Scratch install directory to a flashydrive, and it should work.

bye 1.4, we all loved you. but we all outgrew the site. 2.0 is a welcome change.

Re: Scratch on a stick?

Use the Files-only version and it works 100% perfectly.
I have my entire mod collection on my stick.
