Well, I guess so, but in general, most replies "Wrong section" usually end up looking like someone being rude to the topic-owner. Besides, when they see the topic moved, it'll become more obvious. And if the moderators the move it see fit, they can also explain it and they usually explain it in a nicer form than others.

Though for making a new topic. I'm not sure where I would put it. The post would belong in almost all the forums. It's the moderators/ST's decision on whether to make one or not.

Yes, but the general issue here is that moderators post "Moved to section" when they move them.  When I see posts like these, it makes me want to shout "I CAN SEE THAT!", but I can't because they usually lock the topic when they do this.

Essentially, I think Splatkirby was saying that spam companies make robots to go to sites (like is one!) and spam with links, this is one of the reasons that new Scratchers can't post links. 

The fact that it's a .edu actually makes them come here more, because it optimises the search engine results even more.

Well, recently, I haven't seen very much. But I only stick to forums that are rarely spammed in general. There was an incident a few months ago, but other than that, very little if any.

When the topic was created in the first place, there was a lot of commercial spam.

But as I've said earlier, there is more spam than commercial spam.
