Does anyone know if Scratch will ever have a desktop-sized stage area to work in, rather than the dinky 400x500 little box?

Actually ATM it's 480 x 360.It's planned in Scratch 2.0 to have a larger stage.
I rounded. How much bigger? 2.0 is the one that's supposed to be internet-based, right?
I doubt it will.

You can enlarge it...
No you can make it fullscreen which is not an enlargement of the actual area- if you notice it pixelates a metric [removed by moderator] when you fullscreen it.

I haven't seen any plans to enlarge it. It could cause compatibility issues when importing scripts.
So make it an option- new projects can have a larger stage, imported scripts can revert back to the original small size
Probably not.
Maybe there could be a way to specify the content area size (like in Flash?).
480x360 is a pretty standard game size :S
But it's still way small. You could make a much more detailed game in a larger area
