Ubuntu thread I need your help. I am planning to host a minecraft server, is there an ubuntu desktop environment lighter than LXDE? Also, can I enter an all command line environment and still have access to the Java commands (using less RAM).

If you're looking for something lighter than that, maybe you should consider moving to a lighter distro altogether. Ubuntu is nice and easy, but it's definitely got a bit of fat that could be trimmed out.
