Automatically logged in- As someone else!

Not long ago, while looking at my messages, i was in "my stuff" and i clicked on "you have 4 messages" and when the page loaded, i had 6 messages, and i was logged in as Hanimator. I didn't change anything, and skipped back to my stuff. This persisted on random pages around the site. I am telling people, because there could be people who may take advantage of this glitch to damage other logins, and someone needs to do something about it quickly!

Re: Automatically logged in- As someone else!

It's because someone else in your IP address logged in. How many computers are in your home? If there's more than one, then, that's normal. It's not a bug, but rather an IP-universal event. Otherwise, the server may have connecting problems.

It'd actually have to be on that particular computer, using that particular browser.  This is because Scratch stores login information in cookies, which reside in the user's browser.
Do you have anyone else who uses the same computer as you?
Or were you on a public computer (library, tech lab, etc)?

Where were you when this occurred?
If you were using a public computer, most likely the person before you did not log out.

Re: Automatically logged in- As someone else!

I was in a school, but i don't know of anyone else who calls themselves Hanimator in the school, who might have a scratch account.

Re: Automatically logged in- As someone else!

Maybe it's because of a cookie from someone else.

I never understood cookies. What are they?

They're pieces of information given by a web server (in this case, Scratch) stored on your browser. In this case, the cookie information was the log-in information for Hanimator. Perhaps this Hanimator is probably someone in your school who has a Scratch account and forgot to log-off properly after using the school computer, causing it to look like you're logged in as that user.

Re: Automatically logged in- As someone else!

But i was logged in first. It was only when i opened my messages that i had turned into Hanimator and had 6 messages, instead of 4.

Right. Ok, so it wasn't a big error then. Just thought someone should know.

Re: Automatically logged in- As someone else!

I experienced this a long time ago. I got onto scratch and it said I was logged in as 08jackt. This was before he was famous. But, I just logged out.

Ah, cookies do glitch quite a bit then, or some do.
