Re: "famous" scratchers

i think the "top loved" should be replaced with "top views per love its".
but the project would have to have more than 50 views, so that a project with 2 views and 1 loveit wouldn't get on there.

so a project with 50 loveits and 178 views would score 28.08% love it percentage. a high percentage would get on the front page.

this would at least partially solve the problem...

Great idea!  big_smile

But maybe not replaced, it should be as well as. Because if you've got an important update or something, and people don't tend to love it them, they won't be front paged

Re: "famous" scratchers

I think that everyone can get frontpaged, if he/she really wants it and works hard. I don't see why famous people who make really good projects (like TM_) shouldn't get front paged anymore...

Re: "famous" scratchers

That's why they made curating... try suggesting your projects to a curator. If it doesn't get front paged, it's probably not good enough. People including BoltBait and 08jackt spend long times on their projects and it pays off!

It wouldn't solve the problem... famous scratchers get lots of views AND love-its so they can easily make the front page again (which is not what this topic is suggesting)...

I do like it in terms of cheating.. I've seen many projects with more love-its then views!  tongue

If you've been homepaged more than three times, you don't get homepaged again.

That's not a good idea. People would be flaming about and the Suggestions forum would be filled with "LET US BE FRONTPAGED INFINITE TIMES!!!" suggestions.
There are ways to get frontpaged without being popular on Scratch, such as being featured or curated, Scratch Design Studio, Newest Projects, and My Friends' Latest Projects.
I've actually been frontpaged twice with Scratch Design Studio.

Or if you love a project on an iOS device.

I think the view counter updates every certain # of views.

Re: "famous" scratchers

I think to be front paged the project must show effort in it, but nowadays it's usually who people like.

Re: "famous" scratchers

Well, you know, Scratch isn't about popularity. I actually don't like it when my projects get front paged, I get one million comments that all say the same exact thing.

But if it really means that much to you, put a lot of effort into your projects. Look at the front page and see what people are creating, and what people are liking. Then you could go with the trend and you might get famous.

Re: "famous" scratchers

I don't believe that famous scratchers on the home page is necessarily true.  There are too many cats there, for my taste.  WAIT!  NOT SCRATCH CATS!  They are 'drawing contests' or they are saying 'remix this!'  I can't believe it...

No, it just means that the person who uploaded it had another account and since views go by unique visitors (meaning IP addresses) it doesn't count the view. Since you can love it with no repercussions from the IP address, you can love it more then you can view it.

No, first the famous people were making many projects. Only some of them were really good. The people viewing the good projects were like "Hey, this is pretty awesome! What's that project by him/her about?" and so the good projects got front-paged, the author of that project got many followers, and now whatever project s/he uploads, even if it's one of the two that aren't that good, it's on the front page.
