Ok im making a game like *red*, i have to make my guy jump ofc, but how do i make him come back down nautraly, instead of shooting straight back down?

i was think along the lines of,

when up arrow pressed glide up 30 steps
wait (how ever long i time it takes to glide 30 steps)
glide down 30 steps
