May I ask which version of SCRATCH you are using? The text problem tends to be more problematic in version 1.3, but the text issue is not much of a problem in 1.3.1.

Another tip: The text issue usually comes up in cases where a lot of memory is being used up; applications and processes such as internet browsers, word processors, image editors, and virus/spyware scanners use up a lot of memory, so make sure these are turned off when necessary.

Yet another tip: Instead of adding text in the SCRATCH interface, add/embed the text in a image editor and then import the sprite image to SCRATCH.

Hmm, really? I had it happen numerous times to me with 1.3, only once with 1.3.1. 

this happened to me too...  BUT I HAVE A FIX!
All you have to do is to edit that sprite and press ok and the text will be back for that sprite 

I had this problem a lot during V1.3, but have yet to have it in V1.3.1

Restarting Scratch and editing each sprite to make the text repear is fine, but is annoying when you have a lot of text.
