they "moderate forums" - ie. they make sure everything is organised, delete bad posts, keep things clean, make new catagories, etc. - the masters of the forums.

I'll add on to Dibbo's post up there, 
....Forum Moderators are helpful members of the Scratch community that are chosen by the Scratch Team. All they do is just help people around most of the time.
Forum Moderators have the right to:
- Move, delete, edit posts, stick or close topics
- See users' IP addresses
- View reports from users
- Edit other users' signatures and manage their profile settings
- Censor words
- Ban users from the Forums
