If you take piracy, swap the i and r, then add a v after the two, it becomes privacy.
Now you know.
Seriously, Congress, this is the FIFTH (counting S.978, SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA before) TIME you've attempted to violate the Internet. Why can't you learn...?
ACTA was in Europe by some "second government"

With politics I have come to realize one thing, which I will rant to you before I ragequit the USA and go to Canada. People have been truly brainwashed by the government, religion, society, and the world.
My English teacher instructs us to avoid using "I think" or "I believe" when trying to persuade people. I dislike this, because I think that it implies that my way is the right way, and the only right way. If my opinion is right, then I should have the facts to back it up and let them do the talking for me.The way I operate is that I try to get the facts to make my decisions for me. I may not have 100% of the proof needed to get an answer, and in that case I take the course with the majority of the facts that is the most realistic.
Now I will go on and use a Steve Jobs quote for this example.
"A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."
People don't know what they want. They are told what they want. That is the nature of the American uber-capitalist society. To throw in a Colbert quote,
"Unlike in the U.S., where advertising draws attention to itself by being everything that exists.
Every minute of every day someone is trying to influence you. Advertisers influence you, and most "reporters" try to influence you. Biases are obvious, with Fox News (the reason for the quotes around "reporters") on the right and MSNBC on the left. CNN somewhere in between, and Current TV far left. Down the middle is CSPAN, where you can see just how much our polarized political system is failing. People embed on you their beliefs, and that transfers into votes, which may or may not be for the person who will actually benefit you, your city, state, or country.
Bringing it back around finally to CISPA, SOPA, PIPA, and the internet, the problem is that people don't know what they want. They vote based on the most charged headlines making an influence on their vote, or by party lines. The beautiful thing about the internet is that there is NO central government. Everyone can do whatever they want, and that is what scares the legislators. The problem is not whether we will be free, it is when. I look forward to seeing government made up of our generation. Forgive the term, but the current congress is mainly made up of old people with old ideals. Piracy, which Hollywood whispers in their ear is just like "stealing a car" must be stopped! Gay marriage? What a horrible idea!
They don't understand our culture. When they were children, there was no "World Wide Web," no "downloads," and no open homosexuals (because if they were open they would be harassed by the kkk or others). The world is changing, and they are afraid of that.
People born in about the eighties and nineties understand the changes. The internet is not something that you control. You can not stop cyberattacks by regulating the internet. Any legitimate threat can simply bypass whatever restrictions are put into place, while hipster n00bs who use their $2,000 Mac just to go on Facebook will have their privacy invaded to "keep us safe."
As the generations change, new cultures develop. In the Bill of Rights, there is nothing about "keeping teh internetz free for teh lulz." When the country was formed, there were no electric lights, no radios, no wires, and certainly no computers. Still, would the founders want the internet (which as I should add is not property of the United States, nor that of any nation; it is not even a physical thing) to become a police state? The internet is a place of freedom, and you can believe me that if the U.S. begins a war on the internet, that will be one war they do not win.

How to find out if they are watching you via webcam:
Step 1: Say that there is a nuke in NYC in front of your webcam.
Step 2: Wait.
Step 3: If the FBI shows up at your house, they are watching.

{...I just realized something. If my optic is a camera, does that mean the government might be able to visually blackmail me, especially into giving them control of the laboratory and the company? If they do that, I'll have no free will and I'll be played like a game. Because I'm 'just a computer'.}

The US law is above the US government. At least that's what the founding fathers wanted it to be like.
The problem is that the government thinks they own the law. They have the power to change something that is above them. The entire US society was founded on the principle of people having some sway in the authority above. It's a good idea on paper, but there's one flaw with that. The government isn't the highest power, but the law is. Therefore, if you can control the law itself, you have total reign over the country. The current government thinks they have that kind of power, especially Congress. They're warping their own job description.
