Most people with Macs, I would generally point towards the netbook section of the store, or even the iPad. I will say that the iPad is amazing, although for Programmers it is lacking. Artists and Musicians have good apps on the iPad though. So really only programmers need a Mac. (Even if you compile and work on windows you still need to compile on OSX)


Here's a question: Is it technically legal to use a VM of OSX? I will eventually need to have a build environment for compiling to Mac and XCode for iOS but am wondering whether it is worth it to get a Mac or just use a VM. (Although I think the presence of a Retina Display on the MBP will make the decision for me  )

It is legal now, to install Snow Leopard on a VM after Apple changed it's EULA a few months ago 

Oh, and sure, 90% of applications on the web are for Windows. How many of them are well built though? How many are even functional?

Of course there are excellent apps for both OSs, but that argument that Windows has a wider selection of apps available is invalid.

the majority of anything is usually pretty terrible, whether it be apps, movies, music, video games, and even people. so yes, there will be some bad applications for windows. all the ones i have, though, work perfectly fine

Cons: Apple is extremely restrictive (such as requiring a Mac to develop iOS or OSX)

Aaaand stop. This thread is supposed to be discussing the video linked in the first post, not discussing the superiority of one OS over another! I'm giving this thread a change to get back on topic because I found that video hilarious! I'll have to close it if it derails again though 

I think that it does make a good point, marketing is just cleverly putting people into a mindset to see something as more attractive and it goes on everywhere! Better marketing doesn't necessarily mean a better product at all though, unfortunately

True, but in Apple's case, they do have the better product and marketing.

You just kind of ignored what he said about saying which is better &c.
