Art problems...

I didn't know if this went in the Help with Scripts forums but I just put it here in case. Move if needed. I need help with transferring artwork. I made a simple "Hello" picture in GIMP, and I want to move it into Scratch. With stuff like this, example: sprites from the Internet, I just either save it into a folder, and drag the item from the folder into the costumes/backgrounds area of Scratch. I tried the same thing with my GIMP artwork, but it didn't work. Please help me. If you have questions, just ask (about my problem).

Re: Art problems...

GIMP saves files as a .xcf by default.
To import a GIMP file into Scratch, open your image in GIMP and resave it as a .png, .jpg, or .gif.

Re: Art problems...

Thanks, but I tried saving one of my GIMP works as a .jpg file, but it said it couldn't do that. So I had to save it as a .xcf file. How do I save one of my GIMP works as a .jpg file?

Re: Art problems...

Click File > Save As > type in the name of your file with a ".png" ending > Save > accept the export prompts > Save.

Re: Art problems...

JPG's suck. Just add ".png" to the end of your filename when exporting.

Re: Art problems...

Thanks guys. I figured it out. I had to go to File --> Export, then save it as a .png, or.jpg.

Re: Art problems...

I know you figured it out, but just for future reference, you should use .png's.  .jpg's don't support transparency, and they are a compressed format, so you often get bad-looking parts to the image.
