The point of this thread isn't to attack/defend macs or PCs (as far as I can tell from the first post), so please stop trying to provoke a conflict.

From what I can see, both macs and PCs offer different things.  If either was simply and "overpriced... clone", its respective company would soon go out of business.  If you can't accept that both have advantages, or, failing that, keep your arguments to yourself, then take your argument elsewhere.

I don't really see how you could see it's toward Macs. It's pointing out that Time Machine is ridiculous and takes up a ton of space & is saying that Apple uses marketing to cover up their mistakes and flaws and the advantages PCs have over Macs. Also, the whole "Blue Screen of 9/11" thing makes it seem they're saying Apple is untrustworthy and making stuff up.

Also, if you look at the comments, one of the top comments is (in part)

Never in my life have I met a professional programmer, designer, or anyone with knowledge of computer science working on a Mac.
Most of them work on either Windows or any of the Unix-based variants like Linux or Ubuntu.

That said, I still don't think either is better or worse, I'm just making an interpretation of the video.  smile

Re: Mac vs PC (get a Mac)

I dunno, I still think it's towards Macs as being cooler than PCs.

And as for that comment, I've never seen a graphic designer, artist or musician that uses a PC. All the people I've seen that use PCs have been noobs. All the programmers I know, use Linux. One of them (he's the one who introduced me to Scratch btw) has recently switched to a Mac and is happy about the decision.

What-ever
There's really no difference; neither is easier to use, it's just based on personal preference. I personally have a harder time using Macs and I kinda prefer the way binaries work on Windows, but that's just me.

I'm a lazy nerd and I use a PC. I just like being able to change my system files, play games, and do really anything I want to it.

I use windows because it's not "computers for dummies".
I know what I'm doing, so I don't get viruses, my computer doesn't freeze, all that great stuff that mac brags only it can do.
Not to mention that 90% of things downloadable on the internet are windows-only.

Lol.
Most people with Macs, I would generally point towards the netbook section of the store, or even the iPad. I will say that the iPad is amazing, although for Programmers it is lacking. Artists and Musicians have good apps on the iPad though. So really only programmers need a Mac. (Even if you compile and work on windows you still need to compile on OSX)

Here's a question: Is it technically legal to use a VM of OSX? I will eventually need to have a build environment for compiling to Mac and XCode for iOS but am wondering whether it is worth it to get a Mac or just use a VM. (Although I think the presence of a Retina Display on the MBP will make the decision for me  tongue )

I would have to disagree with this statement; while it may have fun apps for generating music/drawing, it's nowhere near anything that could be used professionally at all. I also honestly don't like using a tablet or touchscreen.
