I... don't agree.
Ignoring users would lead to extreme confusion in threads where some people are ignored by others, as many have mentioned up-thread, and blocked users wouldn't even know what was going on.
The forums are a place of transparency and discussion. The Scratch Team and moderators do a great job at keeping all topics viewable by all ages, groups, and beliefs, so there is absolutely no reason to ignore part of these discussions. Unless, that is, you hold a grudge against a certain user. In that case it's very easy to skim over it instead, although grudges are never a positive thing (you never know, for once the user might have a good idea).
If that user annoys you in a way that is effectively insulting or discriminating, then it isn't suitable for anyone and the user is better off banned completely. Now, how will we do that if everybody's ignoring him/her?
I hope you've taken these ideas with an open mind and understand why it might not be a good idea to allow ignoring.

yes, I understand all this completely, again its just a suggestion, that has a very low chance of getting through, I just wanted to put it out there. And I don't want to get into yet another fight, so thats all I'm going to say.

Yeah but there are things I don't want to see that people can't get banned for

I support +1
And to add on, for an ignored user their posts would say, "This user is on your ignored list" instead of their original message.
