whatever it is if it had a 1 in 1000 chance of happening it wouldnt really matter since its 1 in 1000 and not, say, 1 in 1

Then everybody would waste their days playing pokemon, trying to get their magikarp to OHKO a pokemon with Splash. XD

Re: Mass Pokemon Thread

Onto another one of my theories...

Hyper Beam can only be learned by fully evolved (or at least once fully evolved, but got a later stage further on) Pokémon. Both Professors Elm and Rowan have noted the strange energy that surrounds Pokémon when they evolve. I believe that Hyper Beam is made of that energy. It builds up inside Pokémon, attempting another evolution. However, because they can't evolve, they need to expel the excess energy. The solution? Discharging it as an attack.

Does this mean Hyper Beam could be used to evolve Pokémon?

i like explaining hyper beam with "DRAGON BAWL ZEEEEEEEEE" better than with "strange excess energy" :P

Actually, by TM, Lickitung, Chansey, Tangela, Rhydon, Seadra, Scyther, Electabuzz, Magmar, Porygon, Kabuto, Dratini, Dragonair, Togetic, Piloswine, Remoraid, Porygon2, Larvitar, Pupitar, Nuzleaf, Trapinch, Vibrava, Metang, Klink and Klang can all learn it, along with some not-fully-evolved pokemon by level up, but only at or above their evolutionary level.

Could this be a method of attaining underleveled pokemon in future games? *Uses hyperbeam on some pokemon on route 1 and gets level 6 Klingklang*

I meant as an in-universe detail. Not as a game mechanic.

Try smeargle.
If you want one in black/white, they appear on route 5 via mass outbreak. I caught one at level 46 (No cheats, I've seen a level 51 one there) there. Plus, it can learn any move.  smile  Even Draco Meteor with negative friendship. Derp. Unfriendly Smeargle used draco meteor!

Re: Mass Pokemon Thread

Spore is a must for Smeargle...

Then of course there's the Lock-on/Sheer Cold combo...

There might be some good stat raising moves to pair with Baton Pass...

Any move.

Smeargle.  tongue

Scizor!  big_smile  Swords dance + Swords Dance + Bullet Punch = Team Sweep. That was the first one I EV trained.

Some wild pokemon raise EVs of one stat of the pokemon who fainted them.  If an EV of one stat is high, that stat will grow more on level up.
For instance, in gen IV, Bidoofs gave HP EVs, Magikarps gave speed EVs, and geodudes gave defense EVs.
