Scratch

Well, I am already the manager of the band Frozen Coco on Scratch, and as a general policy I don't usually like to join these other bands (I kind of feel it goes against my work with Frozen Coco to spend time for other ones). However, I feel very strongly about this Beatles tribute band as you also are aware that I am a great fanatic of them too!

You have already probably heard my work, with Frozen Coco and my solo 'Let It Be' cover which I uploaded for a short while and decided to remix it. In it, I played all instruments (yes, all, even tuba and the rest on keys) and it happens to be a Beatles song which is what this collab is all about. I have a good mic for my band's work of course, and am experienced in the mixing department too, so I could be of help there, like Geoff Emerick and George Martin! I also am familiar with practically the whole catalogue of Beatles songs, so that's a major plus point, and I know to play the riffs and beats to many of their tunes.

Currently, there are three spots I'm interested in, of which I will have to chose one. I am very experienced at rhythm and lead guitar and am very good at piano too. Eventually, how many songs of their's do you plan to complete? Also, it may be nicer (since completing all their 206 recorded songs is going to be impractical) to skip to some of the Beatles' best work, that's if you are planning on doing whole albums. I must warn you however that albums such as Seargent Pepper are going to be a tough ask due to the immense overdubbing of ochestral instruments.

If anyone else does sign up, and if you do get a drummer and a bass guitarist, who are the hardest to find in my opinion (they've got to be interested in the Beatles too, so there's no point in me asking the Frozen Coco members to join unless they are so), could you please tell me on one of my projects? Then I will let you know which instrument I decide on playing.

Meanwhile, could you for friend's sake please hold onto the three spots I mentioned until you find a bass guitarist and drummer? Thanks and good luck with the band! 

I'm competent with the guitar, and I can do bits of keyboard. I can maybe sing.

I can easily sound british. Beatles don't sound exactly british though.

@jji - It'd be great to have you on the roster! However, the keys and guitar parts I'm currently holding for DIY, who is considering his role in the project and requested I hold those jobs until he makes a decision. However, considering you chose two jobs, you'll probably get either-or. Could I have an "audition tape" with you playing all the instruments you signed up for?

@Veggie - I think you would be great as a mixing engineer - you're in! Meanwhile, could I also get a sound recording of you drumming and singing?

The drumming and singing wouldn't be at the same time, right? Because then I'd need multiple mics for it even to sound decent and then I'd have to like buy another mic and bleh

Nah, the drumming and singing parts can be separate recordings; they can be overdubbed in the mixing process. I'll take a listen to your stuff.

Thanks! I was hoping you'd reply.    I'll hold on to those parts for you. 

And yes, I was thinking about complex instrument overdubs for their later work. But I thought maybe that we could get recordings of a band member's school orchestra, possibly (with permission of course).

Yeah, it'd be rather difficult to cover their entire catalogue. But, I'm gonna try anyway, just as a sort of experiment.

I sound British and have a good vocal range that suits their songs, so it'll be good once we get to recording.

That's great! Seems like the project is working out better than I thought it would!

I can play "Here comes the sun" all the way through fluently, I can play all the chords of "Hey Jude" and I can play the original full acoustic guitar accompaniment of "Yesterday".

Amazing! Great job! You're very talented! This kind of guitar playing would work excellent in songs such as "Michelle", "Yesterday", "Dear Prudence, "Here Comes the Sun", etc.

Just wondering though, are you auditioning for lead or rhythm guitar? Also, do you have an electric guitar as well, to go with the more amplified tracks? Finally, since you say you don't have any means to show your singing skills, how would you describe your singing voice, and which Beatle do you think you sound like the most?

No, I only have acoustic/classical guitars, but I can record them and distort them with electronic "pedals" and things to make it sound like whatever you want (Garageband ftw!).

Rhythm would be easy for me I guess, since I know a lot of chords and things. I could do lead for some songs like Here comes the sun, I dunno.

My brother says I sound like John Lennon apparently. I may decide not to sing. One of my siblings may though.

I sound most like Paul, I would think, so there we go!

BTW, I still haven't made up my mind yet of which of the three spots I'd like to take out of lead, rhythm and piano (since I was the first to sign up, and as you granted me time to decide, All4one). I'm great at lead (you may have heard of my work on some of FC's new songs coming up) and I am very experienced at all three. Talking of Dear Prudence, I play the Travers Picking exceptionally well. Some of my other better work include Here Comes the Sun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Blackbird. I have mastered the lead guitar solo for Something, and so as much as I like rhythm (gives the signature beat as John says), I may go for lead, though this is not yet decided. I have a good electric for that too.

I am piainst officially for Frozen Coco though I'm more of a guitar guy. Could I take piano and one of the guitars once decided, like Paul you know? That way we don't always need more than four musicians and some other member in the band can play harmonica like John did. Then we can get stand-in guys for sax, etc. (although that's gonna be hard of course).

I'll wait for the bass guitarist and drummer to sign up and I'll announce which guitar I'll be playing in that case (technoguyx of FC also is aware of my bass skill, but I'd rather not play that for this band also).

However, if there are complex bass parts, I'm the guy to ask, since lead experience certainly does help there! 

  Awesome. Are you saying you want to be added to the piano part of the roster right now?

UPDATE - I made a slight change to the rule about each musician being required to sing. I think only the four main members of the band (rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar, drums) should have to sing. Or else it would be sort of odd if, for example, a harmonica player, would be required to sing a song, for the harmonica player would simply be a stand-in musician, unless the instrument will be played by one of the main band members. I'm about to make this change in the main post.

@Veggie - Yeah, you were right - you don't exactly sound like The Beatles.    But you still have a great, unique voice - keep up the good work with those albums. 

@jji - Do I necessarily have to download the file? My parents wouldn't be too happy if I told them I downloaded a foreign file on their computer.    If I do have to download it, then I can just ask for permission.

Yeah, so like I said, I will do piano and lead guitar. I know this is an early decision as intended, but as jji has only an acoustic guitar and can't perform complex pieces, I'll take those posts. I am plenty experienced in those two, even rhythm. I have acoustic guitars as well if needed for lead parts such as 'Here Comes the Sun'.

So add me up there. I can sing, no problem. Can't wait to get started!
