Scratch Galaxy (or Scratch.galaxy, not decided yet) will be a social game similar to Webkinz/Club Penguin. Users would be able to walk around the world of Scratch Galaxy with other users.
Chat
Scratch Galaxy will allow users to say specific, pre-programmed phrases.
My Room
Scratch Galaxy may or may not have rooms called pods. You would be able to customize this pod.
Safety
Scratch Galaxy will have moderators, in case anything goes wrong, as well as helping out new users. However, it will be very hard to do anything inappropriate. Scratch Galaxy usernames will be auto-generated, so no user will be able to use inappropriate words as their usernames. Passwords will be stored in hashed format, so hacking will be nearly non-existent. Also, as stated before, chat will be completely clean as well.

I like the idea of pre-programmed phrases for chat. But, it does seem a bit restricted. What about having a system of allowing users to submit new chat phrases and then moderators can add them after reviewing them?

This sounds like a nice idea. I'm in another collab similair to this, but I guess I'm in.

That sounds cool. I was thinking about having chat menus to select phrases, like Club Penguin, but what do you think?

I think it's about time to divy up the tasks. Here's what I think we need (feel free to tell me to add more):
Art:
I'm not that great at doing art/backgrounds, so someone should probably do those. We need 1) a spaceship background (I think we should start there when you log in to the game), a galaxy background, and maybe a 'pod' background (for the user's room). The pod is inside the spaceship.
Flow Management (How stuff works):
We need someone to suggest ways of making things flow better/easier for the user. I know stevetheipad had shown interest in doing this.
Programmers:
I know stevetheipad and zubblewu are both fantastic programmers, so I think that all of us should at least work on a small part of it. Again, I don't know how much programming we can do before Scratch 2.0 comes out, but we should be able to do some.
Scratch On!

Sounds cool. A simple way for moderators to add a phrase to the chat list would be helpful. As we want users to have lots of phrases, but not abuse them.

So we'd do periodical updates with new phrases? Oh, and did you look at the task sheet I posted?

Well, theoretically, we could update them any time we want.
And, yes, I'm pondering over which tasks I'll start out with first.

Oh yeah. Cloud lists.

I'm actually starting a new company now along with it's own website and logo, so I'll have that ready sometime soon to use in the credits.

Hi! I commented on your other thread, but I figured I'd post here too. As I said in my other post, I don't really care what team I'm on. Just so long as I'm on one. I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy being on the music team, but any of the other ones sound fine. Thanks!

I'd like to make a few notes regarding the project:
-Easibillity:
This is no way an easy task. You have to restrict more, and know what your doing a lot more. This isn't the kind of collab you can just dive into, and become successful. It takes patiences, and it takes skill:
-Skill:
Skill is essential. Everybody needs to truly understand their role, and be skilled at their role. You need some outstanding members, and you need some outstanding ideas. And you just need to be good at everything, across all the collab.
-Probability:
One of the biggest problems in this collab: whether or not it's probable. I saw some mention of using 2.0's cloud data. Unfortunately, I performed some tests on them, and more or less, it is impossible. The cloud data (at least in the Scratch Day 2012 alpha) is lagging, and I'm doubtful of it's potential. I had made a simple MMO, and it did not work at all.
-Ways to improve:
Since my hands are tired, I'll just list them.
-Restrict members more, and perform more tests on members
-Plan more than do, is a saying I love.
-Use an engine, such as FireMMO (me) or Scratch Space (Magnie). These are excellent ways, and both are improving rapidly to getting easier and more robust.
To rap it up, I may consider applying to this, so I can help out occasionally.

well remember, they had to be running alpha and 1.4's site at the same time.
when 2.0 comes out the new site will have more memory and CPU to use.

That has nothing to do with it. They're also hosting every other MIT site. It's unrelated.

@bobbybee We'll be using cloud data in 2.0. As for outstanding members, I present to you stevetheipad. Also, you can apply for this collab in the hiring thread.

I'm not saying stevetheipad isn't amazing (and he is), but he isn't a networking expert.

What skills do I lack that are required for this position?

You don't lack anything. But it's not like your a networking master-mind. I don't like to insult people, or to brag, but myself and Magnie are the only people on Scratch who only fit into the category.
