Laptop shut down while looking at forums

I was looking at a topic, and my laptop suddenly shut down. It's probably not due to overheating, since I'm using a cooling pad. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the forums, or my laptop.
My laptop is a Gateway M-2625u from 2008, and it's used. It currently runs Windows Vista.
Any suggestions?

Re: Laptop shut down while looking at forums

Try plugging it it?

If it is, then it's Over charged. Take the plug out and let it rest for 5 hours to over night. If you've been keeping it plugged in for more than 10 hours at a time, congratulations, you've fried your charger and probably your motherboard!

Re: Laptop shut down while looking at forums

That's nothing to do with Scratch, that's to do with your computer. Are you sure it didn't just run out of charge?

Well, G0D_M0D3 might be exaggerating, but keeping it plugged in can kill the battery and charger.

It probably just ran out of charge.

Re: Laptop shut down while looking at forums

@RedRocker and Chanman: I turned my laptop right back on, so it can't be that.
@G0D_M0D3: My parents leave their laptops plugged in for very long times.

Re: Laptop shut down while looking at forums

Did it display any error messages when doing so?

No, the screen just turned black and shut down.

Re: Laptop shut down while looking at forums

I'd email the people who made the PC you are using. They can tell you why it happened.
