Re: Programming Languages

So far as the best programming language is concerned it all depends on what you want. Theoretically all programming languages are equivalent and so it boils down to what paradigm you prefer.

If you want to be a software engineer then C++ Java and their ilk will be used for many more years.

If you are interested in programming as a hobby then consider a language on the basis of its purity or how well it matches your personality. For example in OOP Smalltalk either Squeak or Pharo, for functional programming Haskell, for logic programming a Prolog with constraint solvers like SWIProlog is good. For giving [removed] try [removed] -- Yes it's a programming language!

Re: Programming Languages

Er... it takes a while to learn to program. I doubt you'll fully know more than 5 programming languages. I don't think you'll be able to "Finish learning everything else" :b

Re: Programming Languages

It is a pity when a perfectly legitimate programming language cannot be named because the letters from which it is made happen to read an irreverent word. Check the language out by Googling it.

Well, this is a site for and used by young children, so it's not really appropriate.

Re: Programming Languages

RP4K(Real Programing for Kids) has step-by-step tutorials. If you want to learn a new programming language, I would suggest this. The only drawbacks are the course costs. Like $100 for 1 person.

Oh, and there you can learn: Visual Basic. Java. and C++ (I think)

Re: Programming Languages

Which programming language would be best for me to learn? I'm sort of interested in going beyond Scratch...

Re: Programming Languages

Python for simplicity.
Pascal for large programs that can do low-level stuff if you need it to.

It's funny how both are two different topics but they have the same thread title.
