It just got announced today! I'm going to be one of the three drum majors for the Cadet's of Waukesha West Marching Band! I'm really excited for the season to start (the first practice is this Sunday, but practice doesn't get serious and regular until band camp (late summer). The theme this year is jazz. Wish me luck!

I've considered becoming a drum major in my middle school band before. I'm pretty confident I could do it, but being me, an incredibly lazy person, I decided to pass up on it to avoid additional responsibility and things. tongue
And I was needed to be boss at my position as 1st trumpet anyway. big_smile

Thanks! My middle school didn't have a marching band, but Waukesha West has won first or second at the state level since forever. Our only real rival is Waukesha North (same city, different side), who actually, for the first time, won state 4 years in a row (we won the 3 years before that), so we are having our first seniors to graduate without having won at least one state competition. I don't want to be the next! xD

Congrats!

Being a drummer must be awesome. I think I'm a pretty decent drummer, even though I never had a proper drum kit. I can lay down some pretty rapid drum fills.

Actually, it belongs in the RaP forum. If it was about composing music it goes in MaC because it;s mostly a creative activity, otherwise, if it's about playing an instrument in general, then it belongs in RaP since it has more of a playing component. The more you know. wink

Our next parade is the Memorial Day parade, but that is technically a continuation of last years season, so I'll be preforming as a trumpeter. I believe our next parade is the Winter/Christmas parade, after the competing season.
