Moving Variables and other new variable stuff

It's really annoying that if you put a variable (like a boss's health) in a certain place, and hide the variable until the boss battle, then stow the variable, it always shows up in the top left corner. There should be more variable scripts like:

A moving variable script (variable go to x (x), y (y))

A variable ghost effect script (set variable ghost effect to (number))

and others.

You should also be able to put a variable in a sprite's costume. There should also be another way a variable looks, which is plain text without the orange box.

Re: Moving Variables and other new variable stuff

well, the problem with resseting variables is when you save them, if their not shown their positions reset (top left corner

Re: Moving Variables and other new variable stuff

I was thinking about this, it would be like the variable would be it's own sprite kind of, what if you could set the colors? That would be awesome!

Re: Moving Variables and other new variable stuff

Just save your project with all the variables shown that you don't want to reset to the top left position.

Or share the project with all the variables shown if you wan't to release it.

But I think what he's trying to say is for a variable to move mid-project.

Re: Moving Variables and other new variable stuff

I agree that you should be able to display the variables simply as text.  You wouldn't have to give it complicated controls if you could just attatch it to another sprite.  Then it would follow that sprite around, hide at the same time, ghost, etc. but the variable display would still change.  That would be more flexible than the ugly orange rectangles.

Re: Moving Variables and other new variable stuff

My idea is that you can hide LISTS as well as VARIABLE cause it is annoying that when you create a list like LAST MOVE USED in an RPG battle system and you want to hide it at certain points in battle and you cannot...
sad

Please don't necropost... If you want to ask about this, it would be good to make a new thread in the All About Scratch forum by clicking the "Post New Topic" button.

In fact, just click here to create a new topic.

For the ghost effect thing, why not a drop-down menu like with the looks block?

Good idea, but pixelate and mosiac would be useless for variables
