Doesn't show if topics have been posted in when logged out

My browser randomly logged me out, and the blue/gray squares were all gray. When I logged in, they turned blue again (most of them).

This is bizarre.

Only when logged in do you see if topics have been posted in recently

It's because it doesn't know what's new if you're not logged in.
