Project Size Limit

I think that instead of having a limit for a project size, the limit should be on the total amount of space a user's project's take up.  For example, lets make the limit 100mb (just an example, the limit should be higher than this if the Scratch team accepts my idea).  A user can then upload projects of any size until the 100mb space is full.  Then, the user will be required to delete some of his or her projects until there is enough space to upload more projects.  I think this is a good idea because a user would still be able to share a project that is over the current limit, 10mb.  Please make improvements to this idea if you have any  smile

Re: Project Size Limit

It wouldn't work because people could just make more accounts if they need more room.

There could be IP address tracking so that one network can only make one account.  smile

Which would cause a lot of people anger from not allowed multiple accounts, no test accounts, etc...
Also, what about the people who already have more than 1 account?

Re: Project Size Limit

I agree with Fork and I would like to add my thoughts why not.

1) The only reason that a project (in my experience) is that you have lot's of graphics/sound clips

2) Also, scratch has a budget, and I am sure that they do not have the bandwidth/storage space to store so many large projects, especially when they are being played online.

Re: Project Size Limit

Scratch 2.0 will naturally have smaller filesizes, so more should be available in a project.

Re: Project Size Limit

When uploading, you should check the box that says "compress sounds and images". This helps a lot.

Re: Project Size Limit

I don't like the idea of limiting an account to a certain amount of projects.

Re: Project Size Limit

This wouldn't be good. What if someone made 2 huge projects?
