There is still an issue here if the player chooses an inappropriate name for themselves. Someone then looks at the high score leader board or whatever the data is used for and sees this name and the project is taken down.., who is to blame?
    Instead I propose a new sensing block which sets itself to the username of the user. If the project is used offline or the user isnt logged in then the username is set to nothing. This way inappropriate names are policed in the same way usernames are now and this variable CANNOT be altered, ever. This username block can then be used:

Eg instead of asking, what is the players name?
Say hello (answer) for 2 secs

It could say

Say hello (username) for 2 secs
Without asking for the name ( though if length of username = 0 [not logged in or playing offline] then ask for nick name and say hello answer...)

I think this solves the issue raised here and has the same effect as the proposed locked cloud data  smile

I support, that would let us create a game where you could sign in and sync gamr progress
onto all computers in the world by just logging in!

It also would be helpful to have a

Show list [Put list here v]
and a
Hide list [Put list here v]
block.

The show and hide list blocks are already in the Scratch 2.0 alpha, I believe. I'm pretty sure the lists are all shown under the show and hide variable blocks.

Question. Couldn't people just store the HASH of the passwords in a list, with a suitable one-way function, so that no-one can find the passwords? Or better yet, give scratch an MD5, SHA-1, or SHA-2 reporter block? Inputs a string, outputs the hash in hexadecimal (0123456789abcdef).

That was a bit off-topic. Anyway, I kinda support.

About as easily as you can find what the original string for this is:

Given a hash, people shouldn't be able to find the original string very quickly. Read the Wikipedia article on cryptographic hash functions.
