Plus, If you use the default characters and someone copies you with using those characters, they can't get in trouble because of course, they are scratch's property. I think you should design your own characters.

I just came up with 2 REALLY GOOD IDEAS!!! Maybe people have already thought of this, but maybe we could have games- individual and head to head. The individual games would have high score boards, and every time you play one, you get a certain amount of "Club Cash" or something. The head to head games would not give you any Club Cash, but you could still have fun playing with another user. These games could be in an arcade, a public plaza, (maybe we could even have an arcade game that you can buy as a furniture item)! And here's the other thing- with the "Club Cash" you can buy things in shops- either new colors for your character, new clothing items, new furniture items or wallpaper, etc. Maybe we could even have people create their own stores!
So, what do you guys think? Please look at this post, it really does have some good ideas.

I totally agree! I was thinking the same thing! (i just wish someone would get back to me about whether I can join or make a website..
)

Okay, I'm just going to post this again, because nobody's gotten back to me.
1. Can I join or lead the Cloud Data section of programming, and give some input for ideas? Check out my previous posts- they have good ideas for cloud data in them.
2. Can I make a website for this project? I just need an official name and a logo.
Please, please, please, please get back to me! I'm really anxious to help out!

Hi!
I was thinking up an idea like this in my head, and it looks like some other people have too! I'd like to help with programming or ideas- I have some basic concepts involving cloud data storing in lists, and cloning, and some other ideas that I think will fit this project well. if i could be in on ideas and programming, I would be so grateful. By the way, how are we all going to collaborate on this? With the new 2.0 features?
P.S.
When will 2.0 officially come out? Does anybody know?
Here's a basic concept that I had- maybe once a user enters their username and password, and all of the other info, their data is officially added to a huge list- it includes their username, password, customization, etc., used for login. Then, on the same or another list, info about them that is constantly updated- their position in the world, who they are chatting with, their status (online/offline), their friends, etc. are constantly being updated, and that data on other people's computers is being updated every 0.5 seconds or so. I'm sure this is somewhere along the lines of what you guys were thinking of. By the way, maybe we should make a website (if you guys don't already have one) or an email list, so we can easily keep updated outside of scratch.
By the way, I can make a website for us with updates, a chat room, etc. all I need is a company name (square1 or square2?) and a company logo.
BTW, Maybe all of the programmers could do a different stage. I would want to create, perfect and/or finalize the cloud data creation and reception. I could maybe even lead the cloud data team, or something. I'm pretty good at programming. I would be really good at that.

@Goofball:
Nobody knows when 2.0 will be released. And if nobody gets back to you and your post is still the newest (or 2nd or 3rd newest), give us time. Chances are, nobody's replied to your post because they're sleeping, haven't checked this thread, or aren't sure how to reply. The problem is, if everyone isn't sure, the thread tends to get lost xD
I'd be fine with having a website, if only because I don't envy the task of the programmer's working together solely using the Scratch forums.
On "mini games", usernames and passwords would be cool, but, just voicing a concern here, I'm worried that, if we add too much, the project will start being slow, so we should keep the number relatively low.
Just my two cents.

Well, can I join? (Or are you not the decider for that?)

GUYS!!!
YOU CAN SAVE A LOCAL PROJECT OF ALPHA 2.0 PROJECTS!!!!
THAT MEANS WE CAN START OUR MMO RIGHT NOW!
Just under the "More" tab in the alpha editor, select "Save to disk".

True, but cloud data is disabled, and once we save it to disk, we can't edit it (plus, only until the 21st will the alpha be available.)

jsl decides who joins.
If we're gonna have a website, I will probably make it and give everyone on the team access to edit the site or put a seperate web development role.
If you want to "lead" the cloud data team, then you would not lead much during this project, simply because the joining, x pos, y pos, and area cloud lists will already be made, simply because my idea of doing it seems the best approach.
if you wondering what the method is, here you go:
username list online/offline list xpos list ypos list area list ECT clank23 online 5 10 town jay offline 0 0 none goofball88 online 20 -100 beach wolvesstar97 online 60 -70 town ECT
As you can see, all of each field will be in one list, this means we avoid all problems.
But we have one problem, with this there would be a friend limit, unless we make some sort of code like:
Friend1||Friend2||Friend3||Friend4 ECT
Edit:I am acctually gonna make a site now because I have time

I think that will work well. I'll just help with regular programming or "new 2.0 features".
One idea though- maybe it would be easier and more efficient if you did this:
Mega Unchangeable list-
goofball88:goofball88's password:goofball88's character:(etc. with more unchangeable things)
jay:jay's password:jay's character
etc.
Mega Changeable list-
goofball88:goofball88's status:goofball88's xpos:goofball88's ypos:goofball88's color: (etc.)
jay:jay's status:jay's xpos:jay's ypos:jay's color: (etc.)
So there would be one big list with items, separated by colons, periods, or something, that would be constant, and then another list that would be constantly updated.
Whaddya think?
Also, look at my other post about the games, if you haven't already. I think it wuld be a good idea.

I might use the colon idea for the friends list

Here is another potential background sound. I know we're kind of over-composing, but I figure that the wider selection we have, the better.

I use Musescore. I just found out that it only lets you upload 5 songs though*, so from now on I'm using Sound Cloud to upload the songs.
Some of the instruments are kind of bad (I don't really like the trumpet for instance), but most are good. It's free and cross-platform too.
Edit:* it only lets you upload 5 if you have a free account. You can pay for unlimited I believe.

Muescore looks really cool! I watched all of the tutorials and I'm going to download it. I'll see if I can make songs as cool as yours.

Hmm. I'd like to join. Although this would take a HUGE number of sprites, I'm thinking we can store everyones variables, maybe in a list, and another one for online players, and their x&y positions, load all the online people with clones, or limit it to a certain amount of people online at a time. Username sensing would be useful to, to bad it hasn't been implemented.

Not to be "that guy", but are we going to have a limit on the number of people? Ever hear the phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth"? I think we're already in danger of that happening. I'm all for accepting zubblewu, but I think that closing it after him would be the smart thing to do, unless there are specific positions that need to be filled. Assuming we accept zubblewu, we'll be at 16 members, which, to me, seems too large. Maybe we should divide into two or three teams and work on different projects? Teams of 5 or 6 seem (to me) to be far more manageable, and, if anyone has special talents, they could work across teams.
Here is the current team of 15 (in alphabetical order):
AgentRoop
Bklecka
Clank23
EvilPegasus2274
gbear605
joletole
jslomba
LEGOengineer261,

Hmm. I agree. It sounds like you have already almost 20 people. I think it should be limited. Also, I'm all for accepting me too
I have a lot of ideas for this, but it would be impossible to have a sprite for every player, unless we could make permanent cloud clones.

I was just experimenting with storing individual variables in clones. It looks like clones can't have private variables, but every clone can have its own volume. We can use the volumes of the clones of the main sprite as an index to a massive list of account's attributes.
when gf clicked set [i v] to (1) forever wait until <<(ready to clone) = [true]> and <(clone now?) = [true]>> set [ready to clone v] to [false] set [clone now? v] to [false] clone
when I am cloned // don't know actual name off hand :P set volume to (i) % set [ready to clone v] to [true]Then, to clone another, just set "clone now?" to true, and, if it is ready to clone, it will.
