I think there should be an option in the settings to enable people viewing your unfinished projects (by default it's on). Then, when you are finished, you mark it as "finished". When people perform a normal search, they will only find finished projects. However, there should be a "Draft Project Search" which would search through draft projects only (or as well, I'm not sure). When someone marks their project as finished, they can still open it up later and edit it again or "upgrade" it.

If people are able to see others' drafts I'm just gonna make all my projects in the offline version instead.

Here is an idea: You can click a button/checkbox that allows your project you are working on to show on a special 'collaborative' page that people can open from your user page, and it shows a list of projects that are set to show. When they click one, it sends a message to the owner of the collaborative project. When you get the message, you can either not let them, let them only when you are online with the project, or all of the time. If someone deletes a script, it will ask you if it is ok to do it. When online, you will see a different colored mouse than yours that has there username above it. These could be used to show what other people are doing with the project. Also, there should be a 'send message' button at the bottom of the window when you are online that lets you type and send messages to people. You can tell everyone something, or type their username in <> and then the message to send only that person a message, like this:
<username> message

I don't think people should be able to see unfinished project. What if the Scratcher wanted his/her project to be a surprise? Oh, will my projects made with 1.4 still be there and editable in 2.0? And will there be an option to download 2.0 and do it offline?

From what I saw in a 2.0 preview, only the creators of the project can see it until it's "shared".

Based on the opinions expressed here, that's probably how they'll do it.
And yes, and yes.

I think that draft viewing should work like galleries do, you can let friends in, everyone in, or keep everyone out.
Also good, there should be live coding shows like those at http://wonderfl.net/
You can see people build code and talk to them while they are doing it.
This would be awesome! I really want to be able to do this!It should be all live, so when they move something in, you see it dragging into place and you can see there mouse in red or something and message each other or video talk. That would be awesome!
Also, I think viewing works in progress should be optional. Good luck scratch team!
p.s. there should be file read and write, both on computer and at a url. It should open the url on the actual screen, as part of the project. It should also open computer files this way. It could also create files, and cookies. It could read them etc. It could also read them and write to them without opening them. There should be a way to allow sprites off screen. In general, just take everything thats in BYOB and/or Panther, as well as peck. definitely use the BYOB block maker, but allow drop-downs. 2.0 will be awesome!
p.p.s. will the online thin still be modifiable? If so, make it just as easy.

Oh yeah, what does the number bit in the URL mean now? Because we definitely haven't reached ten million projects...

i noticed that in the source of the project editor there was this section:
<div id="admin-panel"> <div class="expand" data-control="expand">></div> <div class="admin-content"> <h3>Admin Panel</h3> <div class="dismiss" data-control="dismiss">x</div> <div class="status unreviewed">unreviewed</div> <div class="status fe">for everyone</div> <div class="status censored">censored</div> <div class="status nfe">Not for everyone</div>
does that mean theres going to be categories for the appropriateness of projects?

Actually, the use of those categories are already in place for the Scratch website. You can learn more about how they are used here.

Ah, yes, I remember seeing that admin view on a video a while back. Good way to do things.

No, I don't think that everyone should be able to see EVERYONE's drafts. I have so many drafts on my computer that I doubt I'll ever finish. Plus some... personal projects that I don't want just anyone seeing. I do like the idea of being able to privately share projects with other Scratchers, or even have 'open projects' that two or more people could work at a time.

I can't seem to use any of the cloud projects. I'll submit my data to it but nothing changes at all. (I.E, none of my messages send on scratch chat and the only way to receive other messages is by refreshing the page)
Would I need any ports open for it?

It uses a special port, but if it cannot use that, it goes back to using standard ports. Can you tell me which project you were viewing and what operating system and browser you were using?

When you start working on a project in Scratch 2.0, only you will be able to see the project. At any time, you can decide to share the project. At that point, everyone will be able to see the project. You can control when a project will be shared (seen be everyone) or unshared (seen only by you). You'll be able to do all of this online, without any downloadable version (though you will be able to use a downloadable version, if you wish).
You won't be able to share a project with only a small group of people. We've had a policy against "private communication" in the Scratch community, since it could lead to inappropriate discussions that no one else knows about. So the two options will be to share with everyone or share with no one.

Please don't spam your projects. If you would like to advertise, you can create a thread in the Show and Tell forums.
