Design Studio curators are lacking motivation to curate. Why? I think it is because they (or we ) do not have any real perks or rewards.

It'd be cool to have an SDS Curator status, but it's not a huge deal.

This is an interesting point! A lot of people in education these days are thinking about perks and rewards. But some say that they shouldn't be necessary - it's better if people do stuff because they like doing it, instead of doing it to get a reward.

That could be a nice incentive, to live up to the status.

Very true, Lightnin. My only reason to suggest this is because our motivation in general has been lacking. Although I suppose the 'THX SO MUCH ^^' comments are a sort of reward as well.

I agree with Lightnin -- you should do it because you want to help improve the community, not to get some fancy title under your username.

It's not unhealthy to have a small reward. Plus this would allow us to have a separate forum dedicated to SDS curating discussions, as the Scratch Team could allow only the "SDS curator" user group to access that forum.

Shouldn't all our discussions be where everyone can see them?

They could maybe have like an insight on scratch 2.0
Mods can do that. The problem is that we don't do near as important of a job, so our reward should be smaller.

Why do you need a reward though? Gaining the respect of loads of Scratchers should be a big enough reward.

True, but it's hard to measure that, and some curators might not realize the impact they make. Also, it might be easier to hire new curators if there is just a bit of a reward. IDK, I could really go either way.

This looks like a cool idea, but I don't think SDS curators should be curating just for the special status. After all, I bet some curators don't even use the forums!

No, they all do to some extent. At least the active ones do.

Even if they didn't, they could just use it for the SDS forum.

i have an idea! since admins and mods have an asterisk and circle respectively by their username on the main site, why not make a special symbol to identify them?
that's a cool idea!
