Hey, I'm making a mod based off BYOB 3.0.8.
So I was wondering what I had to do to show that it was based of this mod, at first I thought I most likely didn't really have to say anything about BYOB because of the scratch license. (But of course I would make sure the message was clear by saying it was a mod of BYOB which is a mod of scratch.
) Then I thought just to make sure I'de check the BYOB license. I did, and right at the top it says: "BYOB Copyright (c) 2010 Brian Harvey and Jens Moenig. " So that made me think twice. I looked through the license attempting to find what to put if i were to modify it. I found nothing except it said "the following statement shall be displayed in a visible place on a website or on distribution media such as CDs:
Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab.
See http://scratch.mit.edu"
But it said nothing about mentioning BYOB. Is this because technically Jens and Brian couldn't force anyone to mention them because of the scratch license?
I'm posting this just to make sure everyone is happy, I know I probably wouldn't be sued by anyone if I accidentally forgot to put something. (unless of course I rejected to correct it.
)
What would you prefer? So far what i see is required:
Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab.
See http://scratch.mit.edu
and optional which I will include:
Rocket (thats the name of my mod) was based of a modification of Scratch named BYOB.
BYOB was based off of Scratch.
How should I say this all?
What else do i need to say?
Thanks!

You don't like 3.1?

Because of the Scratch license, you do have to say the part about Scratch. We don't have any specific requirements about how you credit BYOB, but of course it's right to say something. What you suggest is fine. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the help!
One other thing, I thought about making a change set for my mod so i could switch to 3.1 yesterday, but first I wanted to see if it was really worth switching over.
I made it so it was in dev mode on 3.1, but when I save image for end user, the buffer overflows.
How do I fix this?
Another thing is all of the input letters (%s for sting %n for number etc.) are used up in both 3.1 and 3.0.8. I want the object insert, so I do want to use 3.1, but I also want to be able to make my own drop-downs. (such as a rotation style one, a true/false one, etc.)
I was thinking, is there an alternate way for a new drop-down?
I think there are actually two spaces not used in BYOB 3.1 (the characters ` and ~ I think might work... I messed with that stuff a bit a year or so ago.)
Oh, and that is also a suggestion for Snap, making custom drop-downs.

Ok so i figured out the save image thing, all i have to do is use the development batch file. It saves just fine.
But i still need to get the dropdowns worked out.

![]()
i'm pretty sure i saw something that does it, try to ask sparks or other librarians
I am a block librarian.
And I don't know if sparks would know that... I'll check with the panther programmers.
Ima have this closed as I no longer need help from the BYOB team and the other problem they cannot help with.
