I have heard much about people who are sick of having the front page dominated by whatever and stuff. I'm sure you've heard it. Anyway, the system of categories I am proposing may be a remedy to it.
So here we go. Categories.
The idea was sort of stolen from DeviantArt, but anyway, it's where each project is entered under a certain category which pertains to the subject or theme of a project. If such a system were applied as a filter on the home page, complaints about homepage "dominating" will most likely die down.
It's basically just a front page thing, and in a way for organizing.
You may think "that's what tags are for", but tags can be spammed, added unwillingly, and a project can have more than one.
I needed to post this up soon before I put it off any longer... If there are any questions, just ask. I'm probably missing a bunch of stuff anyways.

more?
Drawings
Subcategories: Computer-Drawn (subdivided in "Mouse-Drawn" and "Tablet-Drawn"), Drawn on Paper. Both should be also divided on Manga/Comics, Sketches, Portraits, etc...
Pseudo-3D
Subcategories: Isometric, Pen Rendering.

Sounds kind of helpful because many people (Like boinoinoinoin said) are getting tired of people dominating the home page. How about the admins create a network with each other to contact what goes on where of the Home page?

You can add tags a second time on a project, like it had "game"as a tag, and if you put game as another tag, it makes the tag larger.
One of my big points is that tags do not solve this problem.
Tags:Categories::Missouri Compromise:The old slave situation
That's an exaggeration, but you get the point.

I know, I like your idea. So you mean, like an Action category, Adventure, Misc., Helpful, or whatever categories?
I was kind of thinking like:
Games
Music
Animation
Art
Simulations
And then with subsections and whatnot narrowing it down and such.

Sounds good. And you can suggest a category, but only the creator can actually add them.

Maybe if you contact a member of the scratch team (at MIT) they can maybe give this a try?
