honestly? I'm pretty sure spiderman is marvel comics. i'm going to look into it and find out if marvel is still part of it. when i saw the preview i think i saw the marvel sign though.Marvel comics is not the same as Marvel Studios (the company that owns The Avengers). The film rights to Spider-Man is owned by Sony, so he cannot appear in a Marvel Studios film.
But WHY is Spider-Man even in the comics? He's still counted as an Avenger, yet like calebxy said, he's owned by Sony. BTW who else went to see it in 3D, in the opening week?
Because the films and the comics are two separate things, so what happens in the comics is not relevant to the films, and vice versa.

SPIDERMAN IS NOT AN AVENGER HE HAS ONLY HAD A CAMEO IN ONE OF THE AVENEGERS COMICS HIS AND THE AVENEGERS STORYLINES ARE COMPLETELY SEPERATE.
The theather I saw it in was extremely packed, we were going to see the midnight release but they were sold out a month before it would come out. So we saw it on Saturday and had to wait a hour to get into the theater. When the credits came up nobody left until it was completely over.
I've seen Siper-Man in posters so I'm pretty much clueless. But seeing The Avengers in 3D, t'was well worth the money Spider-Man was still in a comic though, and I've heard from different people that he IS and ISN'T an Avenger... Hmm...

The people who say he is an avenger have no idea what an avenger is. The spider-man posters were for the new spider-man prequel coming out.

There have been many different Avengers teams. Spiderman WAS in one of them.
Trust me, I'm a huge Marvel nerd and I know my canon.

I'm sorry to say The Avengers isn't a good movie; it's a GREAT MOVIE!!!! It's not only the best team superhero movie ever made, but it may just be the best comic book adaption made period!

I knew it WASN'T for the Spider-Man movie. I meant Spider Man with the Avengers in posters. I'm just used to the main (True? False?) Avengers Group (Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye). Anyone going to see the new Spider-Man movie once it's out??
