So, apparently, there was a recent set of questions in a standardized test that talked about a hare racing a pineapple.
The animals think the pineapple must "have some trick up it's sleeve" (because it can't go as fast as the hare), except for the owl, who says that "pineapples don't have sleeves". Then the pineapple sits there the entire race and doesn't move, fooling everyone. The moral of the story is that "Pineapples don't have sleeves."
After the story, there are questions about things like who said the wisest words and other opinion-based questions. There are now articles on several sites about it now (several listed in this google search).
A lot of people think this shouldn't be on a standardized test, because the questions are so opinion-based.
Discuss.

Let me get this straight, there was a story, about a race, between a hare and a fruit, and the fruit did nothing, and now there are articles about it everywhere? How bored are those sites?

Seriously, what's this about?

I read about this a couple of days ago. The story's a parody of the Tortoise and the Hare and apparently a bunch of the kids were confused because they weren't sure if they were supposed to answer the questions literally or not. I actually think the story is pretty good, but I don't think it belongs on a standardized test.

Standardized testing and if it really reflects what they say it does.

I'm glad that wasn't on my standardized test - my version(7th grade NJ ASK) at least.

I know this is kind of off-topic, but when you look at the pictures in the search "pineapples don't have sleeves", one of the pics is your GLaDOS sig.
Anyways, I'm going to write this in a play for any schools who want another adaption of the test.
Narrator:One day, there was a race with a pineapple and a hare. The animals thought the pineapple would have a trick up it's sleeves, so they put their bets on him.
Random animal: Yeah the pineapple is going to win!
[Wise owl enters]
owl:He can't win, pineapples don't have sleeves!
Narrator:So then the race began. The hare took off to a running start, but it wasn't the same for the pineapple.
Random animal:OH NOES I LOST MY MONEHS
Another random animal:LETS EAT THE PINEAPPLE
Narrator:So the pineapple was eaten. The moral of the story is pineapples don't have sleeves.

It's as to how stupid it was for them to put this in standardized testing.
