I thinks obiseann was referring to the use of a graphical image (in this case, hearts) instead of numbers to indicate the player's health level. (like in this game).

Here is the best way, making a health bar. With numbers under. When you take damage " -# " in red. When you heal # in green. They float and slowly dissapear.

It takes a bit of time, but it's not that difficult to create an LP counter represented as a graphic image (except when dealing with numerical graphical images; that becomes difficult). The game I suggested earlier uses a health bar that utilizes two scripts (a red background with a green bar floating to the side every time a hit is made). If one were to go with obiseann's suggestion of hearts, I would create a script with several costumes, with a forever script, saying for the sprite to change to a specific costume whenever the LP is within a certain range.
