e-mail activate for new accounts/changing passwords

I think that a thing should be sent to the e-mail address that activates the account or the new account password. What do you guys think?

I'm afraid I do not support. Don't forget that there are very young children who will use this site.

yes, but their parents could help them activate. It would help make sure people don't sign up with an email address like ajdfg@jkdlag.com.

But mine wouldn't be where you confirm it, it would be that you have to enter a code to activate the new password/account.

What will this do, just make it more inconvenient for people to join? That's how you lose users. Little kids get frustrated easily and won't want to wait to do something.

That's true. Adding the extra steps will just discourage people from joining.

Because it's not like you have to join the site to use the Scratch Program

Sorry - this seems to be a duplicate of this topic over here so we'll close this one to keep the conversation from getting split up.
