First-person-shooter engine help

i need help developing this engine
based on a project by youmakemesad, this engine wont be some strange thing using different images for each direction, nor will it be the unrealistic "raycasting" method. oh no, this engine uses textured walls and single-sprite rendering to try and create the best there is.
but ive been having trouble getting movement and wall rendering to work properly and i need help.
ive created a project that has comments on what everything does and where im having problems. i need somebody to help fix these problems and perfect the engine. id prefer somebody with experience in fps projects and id like examples of your best work before i accept you as a partner.
of course, even if i dont accept you, theres nothing stopping you from remixing and fixing stuff up as long as you credit me.
so, please help
(link to project)

Erm... actually that is a pretty good attempt at answering the question...

I don't know if it's the best solution though.

I found this project which has an FPS displayer in it. Perhaps you could take a look at the scripts in that to see how to calculate it?

I think chanmanpartyman just misinterpreted your post. His script is a script for finding FPS, as in "frames per second" - how fast your project is updating the screen. If lots of calculations are being done, than your FPS might be low. However it looks like you're trying to make an FPS project as in "first-person shooter" - a 3D game where the view is from the player's head (so it is realistic). I hope this post clears things up so nobody is confused.  smile

i see
thank you, friend
although, i mentioned things relating to first person such as the raycasting method and textured walls, so there shouldnt have been too much confusion

Oooohhh!!! That confused me too! I was reading that as frames-per-second! Sorry  tongue

This does help if you know how to use it. It helps in the rendering of 3-dimensional movement and it is FRAMES PER SECOND which makes the engine and the costumes and whatever speed fast. I dont necessarily know how to use it but i have seen it in action.: D

frames per second dont make it faster, but rather tell how fast it is
