I am thinking about getting a PS3 using the money I've been saving up. My brother says I should get a PS3, but my friends say I should get an Xbox360. My parents said that I couldn't play the violent games on the big TV so I would have to use my Cinema HD display monitor.
Is it worth it to get it? If so, should I get the Xbox360 or the PS3 or wait until E3 where they might talk about PS4 Orbis? (I'm asking because I sorta have a history of buying the wrong things at the wrong time.)

Nonononono don't get PS3. D:

Games come out on Xbox about a month earlier than on PS3 (from my experience anyway), the graphics are much better on Xbox in my opinion, the controller on Xbox is comfier to hold, there's less lag, need I go on?

yes, you do. My brother says that Xbox 360 and PS3 have about the same graphics, but remember I'm going to be playing games sometimes on my monitor so I doubt that it would matter for some games. I already got the feel for a PS3 controller from using PS3, and which games come out earlier for Xbox?

Well, the reason I don't have either Xbox or PS3 is because almost all of the games are too violent and my parents wouldn't let me play them.

85% of the games for Xbox are rated M, or they're are horrible.

I'd say go with PS3. Not because I don't like Xbox, but just because it's got the best games and stuff.

A Microsoft rep said that the 360 is in the twilight of its existence. So if you do get an Xbox, get the next version.

I am not getting kinect, I don't like lego games, I could get Portal2 for PS3, and I don't really like Sims games.

If it were me I would wait for the next gen consoles(Xbox720, PS4). When they are released fleets of new games will start to come out and you wont be able to play any of them. No new games will come out for the old consoles, you will get bored and probably end up buying one of the new consoles anyway.

It would be a waste of money imo to buy one now.

But that would go for anything. I was asking for if I should wait for E3 because maybe Sony will be saying when they release PS4 and if it's Winter 2013 I'm definitely getting PS3 or Xbox.
