This thought is INCREDIBLY opinion based.
Terraria is incredibly combat-oriented, with far more enemies and weapons, while lacking in building with only 2 dimensions. Walls and solid objects are your only building options, although furniture was a nice touch it really is only aestetic.
Minecraft has no "magical drop from enemies wheee!" weapons, but instead makes you mine for all weapons except the bow and arrow. Minecraft was made to be much more like real life, except in blocks with monsters. With how the combat works, nothing from terraria can compare to it. Imagine terraria in actual first person. Does it really look that much like minecraft?
There's really no comparison.

It was however completely biased.
Who said magical enemy drops were a bad thing?
IMO the sense of progression and combat is extremely enjoyable in Terarria.
There are no sides in this. They're just games.
