Blur effect in the Paint Editor

I'm halfway through making a sniper game, and wanted a vignette effect, like you see in sniper's rifles. I tried going into photoshop, making a 240*180 circle, and gaussian blurring it. When I import it to scratch, it is just a circle! When I use the gradient fill with black and check (transparent) IT's all just black.

Can someone help?

Re: Blur effect in the Paint Editor

Yeah, quite annoying, I agree. Scratch does not support half-transparent colors.

So you will have to add a solid background under the circle, for the gaussian blur effect to be visible, but for your case that wouldn't do.

I suggest creating several different-sized circle sprites on top one another in Scratch and setting their ghost effect to different values so that it appears as if it is a circle with blurred edges. It's not gonna look that good but it's better than nothing.

Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Yes, that's a problem with Scratch - it only supports completely transparent and solid. Unfortunately, I don't see the Scratch team improving upon this in the near future, so I guess we just have to live with it. (By the way, take MyRedNeptune's suggestions.)
