I say: It doesn't exist.
Finally someone gets the point.
To evreyone else: Look at a graph that shows how high the average tempature is. Now look at it closly. Do you see the pattern? It's going up and down, up and down. And just because it's higher than the last 100 years dosn't mean it's not going to go back down.
But neither does it mean that it *is* going to go back down.
The trend, since the dawn of industry and the elimination of the worst forms of particulate pollution, has been upwards. We are releasing more CO2 than can be naturally be sequestered by plants.
But lets say you are correct. Global warming isn't happening. That does not change the fact that fossil fuels are a limited resource.
One day, they will run out. Developing a non-fossil fuel infrastructure will be much easier if done whilst we still have the power of fossil fuel to create it.
Trying to create renewable energy technology *after* the fossil fuels become scarce will be extremely difficult.
So from a purely economic standpoint, long-term it makes a massive amount of sense to develop and deploy renewable alternative energy infrastructure *now*, not for the prevention of global warming but for the prevention us getting knocked back to the bronze age (smelting steel without fossil fuels is hugely labour intensive!)

Yes, Mayhem I agree with the last part. Just in case we do run out of resources to make fuel, we should look for more ways for transportation resources.

Hi whiskie- You have an interesting proposal in your post...but it doesn't belong in a discussion on Global Warming as far as I can see. Maybe you should make your own topic (look for the Create New Topic link at the home page for the Inspiration and More forum). Thanks!

There are climatologists that predict climate change cooling europe which has had some harsh winters.
That'll happen because of a change in the Golfstream current, which will be caused by Global warming...
It IS obvious that Global warming exists, because it is getting warmer after all. The question is: is it caused by human activity or is it just a natural cycle?
I say both. O.o I don't think humans can harm nature so much it'll cause a disaster. On the other hand, we ARE harming nature, therefore helping Global warming progress. But I don't think there is any way we can prevent it.
Animal extinction is natural too. Mammoths went extinct because of a Global warming, but it wasn't caused by humans.
If anything, the economy crysis is more of a problem than Global Warming at this time.

Plant more plants? Plants feed on carbon dioxide...But we are making more houses which use more trees and we don't even need those houses....

You can say global warming exists... it's just that it's not always a "greenhouse effect." The world's temperature swings like a pendulum. In a certain amount of time it gets warmer. In a certain amount of time it gets colder. It's been like this for millenniums and it looks like we are on the heating part. it's gonna get warmer and wamer, but then it will cool down. A couple thousand years after that, it would become so cold that we would be in an ice age.
We could have a greenhouse effect now, but out of all that we're doing to stop it, I think that it's still gonna get warmer and warmer. Atleast until it reaches 125 over here in AZ. x.x
