EDIT- I went on the wiki. I've always loved the idea of editable books, but I'm a bit disgusted books require leather now.

I don't know the full recipe yet but I think they are still easy to make as long as you have cows.

I agree. It already takes long enough to make the thousands of bookshelves for a level-50 enchantment table, now it'll take even longer.

Yea, they could at least make it yield 3 book shelves now, to make it fair.

But then it would be 1 book per 2 shelves...

1 page per book? I think a more realistic idea is to make sugar cane grow faster and create more paper.
