What are you doing in ICT at school at the moment.
Now, I am doing Flash! So far, i've made (for a intro to flash) A shap that changes from a square to circle and a car moving - to introduce use to tweens (shape and motion) and a 24-frame Stickman running. And I have to make a 48-frame flower growing. Now you discuss.

I am using Java-Script and Dream Weaver. I don't really do much programming as such, a part from Java-Script, and a little a bit of time on Scratch. Although, all we really make is calculators and pen art, on scratch. Dream Weaver isn't a programming language though.

We did a bit of Java and now we're doing Excel as well. I really like Excel because you can do a million things with it! My father knows a lot about Excel and he taught me doing some cool stuff but we just do boring (/easy) stuff -.- In our class are a lot of people that are not even interested in programming xD And they choose ICT as an extra-subject and two hours more a week oo'
Well, I'd like to learn more about Java, or maby C+ because one day I want to create my own games, but it seems like I'll have to wait a bit ... next topic will be powerpoint, then word ...

Scratch. But I was proficient at Scratch before I did the ICT for one semester.
I would have like to learn a proper programming language though

When I had ICT for extension class, we used Excel and a bit of messing around with the computers before they installed the system image on the new Windows 7 computers (When that happened I done a bit of DOS batch files).

The stories I have heard have made me have little hope in public school tech classes. I go to a private school, where our computer club has made enough money to build at least one custom computer and optimizes computers as a fundraiser. Our tech teacher has to be my favorite, because he isn't afraid to say what is true.
Some horrible stories I have heard include:
People getting computer privileges revoked for changing the color of their computer's background
People getting yelled at by their computer teacher who thought Firefox was some sort of hacking program
Someone getting yelled at because they accidentally bumped the mouse, causing a little scribble in MS Paint
People who are learning the amazingly powerful features of Microsoft Word. Really? To write our papers for school, we just need to be able to change the font (if it isn't already Times New Roman), the size (if it isn't 12 point), and change to double-spaced lines. Does that really require a class to teach?

Cool! When we're done with Flash, were going on to 'Greenfoot'. It is a Programming language similar to Java. I'm excited because we're (according to my teacher) going back to Scratch

@GameGuy64: Greenfoot is Java. However, it uses a GUI system instead of text.
@16Skittles: Seriously?!

Seriously to what? The reports of my computer teacher? Yes. I might be able to show pics of the custom computers and the optimization sheet. As for the stories, most were from a Reddit comment thread on "What is the stupidest thing you got into trouble for as a kid," but I probably shouldn't link because of the nature of reddit.

We're doing spreadsheets. In fact, today we had ICT and I finished my work. My teacher told me to do some Year 10 work (I'm in Year 8) and I finished it all!

Oh yeah...
Anyway, our first Flash 'assignment' was to 'Make a 48 frame animation of a flower growing' - which I finished today.

That's cool.
I learned Word and basic file manipulation in year 5 and 6... it was... kinda basic

I'm in "Advanced Computer Topics", which means I can do whatever as long as it's productive. I've been programming in Processing.

I HATE HATE HATE all public school tech classes.
I'm homeschooled, so this isnt a problem. But all you were allowed to do in mine before I was homeschooled was type gibberish to perfect your typing skills.
I've known how to type perfectly since I was 3. I dont need to spend an hour a day TYPING GIBBERISH. Or doing stupid things on Word. I would always get in trouble because I finished in like 3 minutes and apparently it's not acceptable to finish typing my name and 3 things about me in less than 2 hours. I got so mad one time because after actually looking at one of the things I finished in 3 minutes I got complimented for being 'extremely advanced' in computer sciences. I was like 'I'm programming websites, and I'm being called 'extremely advanced' for typing 4 sentences in 3 minutes.'
PUBLIC SCHOOL TECH CLASS MUST DIIEEEE
Wow, that post gave me bad memories I never wanted to remember.
Now that I think about it, everything in public schools are like that.
Like in art class. It apparently shoud take you 3 days to draw a turkey.

My computer teacher in primary school was like that. I hated him.
The only thing he told us how to use was MS Paint, MS Word and IE. I learn't everything else I know about computers myself.

same with my secondary school teacher.
We are learning how to make flash animations which I've immediately knew how to do myself

Sometimes I have to kinda pace myself and hold myself from answering all the questions etc. but my teachers have been good in that they knew that I could do all their activities/assignment and tried to give me harder stuff, and ask the questions to other kids etc.

ICT for me, is one of my favorite subjects. It's most people's favorite too. I got my first computer at the age of four, and from then I already knew how to use powerpoint, microsoft word etc... Before it was taught to me.

You're lucky. At my school, they only teach us MS Word.
But I guess that's the punishment for being in 5th grade.
