I really want a feature in Scratch 2.0 - which is "Scenes".
Next to the Stage (in the sprite bar), there will be a button called "Scenes" that when you click on it it will show the scenes menu.
The scenes menu will have no "Scripts", "Backgrounds", or "Sounds" tabs.
It will have a "Create scene" button, a "Delete scene" button, a "Default scene" button, and a list of scenes.
You can name the scenes too!
What scenes do:
Scenes will be a way of making multiple stages.
It will be helpful for platformer games so you don't have to do tons of hides and
shows for the title screen!
Scratch chart:
With scenes: Scene -> Stage -> Sprites
With normal Scratch: Stage -> Sprites
So with scenes, you can make multiple stages!
Scene blocks:
[go to scene [scene v]
[next scene]
[previous scene]
[go to scene number (1)]
These will be under the "Control" blocks.
Oh, i forgot to mention:
The "Default scene" will start when the flag is clicked.
and
The "Default scene" will have "when flag clicked" blocks,
but the other ones will have "when scene starts" to avoid confusion.
I really want this feature to be in Scratch 2.0.
(it will complete the "better way to make animations and stories" thing the ST posted)
Any questions or comments?

I think 2.0 will have a kind of scenes thing. It looks to me like it might replace backgrounds.
Don't ask how i know. No promises though.

I'd hate that if it's anything like it is on Stencyl.

I'm a little confused as to how they'll be different from backgrounds. Can they basically folders whose sprite's scripts activate/deactivate depending on whether the scene itself is active?
Edit: it that is so, I can see how that would make scripting games or animations a ton easier, as well as more organized (and therefore easier to understand if someone wants to remix it).

This is planned in 2.0.
BUT in 2.0, you still have to do the hiding and showing yourself.
heard of the GameMaker's rooms? THAT handles the hiding and showing for you.
i am planning to make a scratch mod that supports it in 1.4

^^^
in 2.0 the stage has a "hide all" block that will make this much easier
