Is it with PunBB-Hosting? If so, simply delete all the posts and put it in maintenance mode - forums that are inactive (less than two posts) for one week get deleted.

You can put a Punbb forum in maintenance mode by going to the "administration" tab, then "Options" and then enter a message at the bottom and click "On" for maintenance mode. Then, the forums will be closed and say your message to everyone but logged in admins.

No, you can go into maintenance mode without deleting the forum categories.

ok for future reference, I am of the male gender. And I can't log into ANY punBB forums. I use PHPBB for my forums.
