Arrow keys. The way my laptop is set up, I have my tracpad in the center, and the arrow keys are on the left:

So, arrows are the best choice. I don't use a mouse.
I use a laptop like that, wasd is still what i use.

I'm left handed.
I need my left hand for aiming and shooting.

who invented wasd anyway?
It's basically the only keys that are as close to the arrow keys as possible. All the other configurations are slightly off

But if you're moving and aiming, your hands are right next to the mouse and its awkward

I generally use WASD

WASD + mouse on the right hand, it's pretty much standard now. You can easily access many other keys which may be set to make your character sprint, use voice commands, change weapons and just about anything else, while there aren't as many keys near the arrow keys, and most of those that are near it are pretty awkward to reach while having three fingers on the arrow keys.

who figured that out though?
what game developer (or average computer user) discovered that wasd so closely matches the arrow keys?

You do know you can changed WASD to arrows, right?
I know, I'm used to the WASD controls for it though.

But for people with laptops, arrows are better.
I use a laptop.

Not to be rude, but from personal experience, I've noticed that noobs tend to use arrow keys more, as they tend to play games on miniclip and primary games and stuff instead of more involved, downloadable games.

And what type of game would that be?

And pretty much every other real game out there. LotRo, SWBF2? Everything else? You simple can't use arrow keys for them. I have a friend who uses them, and it's really awkward all the time.

I use arrow keys and play all those games (except LotRo, what's that? and half-life, because I don't have it, yet) Look at my laptop setup on the last page. It's easier for me to use the arrow keys, because WASD is closer to my mousepad than the arrow keys.

TFGH. It's exactly the same, on my computer.
It's used as an alt. for WASD on 2-player-same-keyboard games.

I also have blonde hair and blue eyes. Well, JK about the hair, but I have eyes that change. Sometimes green, sometimes brown, and when I wear blue, they turn blue.
(if you get the reference, tell me)
