Whilst surfing the scratch site, I noticed that lots of projects have been copied and mistreated. I got an idea for 'Scratch Player'. Maybe Scratch could make it. People could specify whether it could be downloaded for Scratch Player or Scratch. That way, if people wanted their project left alone, they could say it only runs in the player. Basically, it's like viewing the project online, but it's downloaded (and therefore faster), can't be edited, and can run fullscreen. This would be good if you spent ages on a project. People could download it to make it play faster, and no-one could edit it. I think this is a sensible idea. Maybe it'll happen one day (Nudge nudge, wink wink, Scratch).

The best cure against copiers is just not paying attention to them!

Having code that can't be shared goes against the pedagogical philosophy of the Scratch team. They *want* people to look at each other's code!

Kevin is right, sharing and learning from others is one of the core principles of Scratch. If you want to hear an inspiring talk about the issue of remixing you should see this video: http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/187
