Mandelbulb (3D)

Many are familiar with the mandelbrot set (google it if you aren't and you'll see some amazing pictures).  Basically, it is a mathematically-defined set that is infinitely complex.  You could zoom in forever and always see something different (theoretically).  Here is the typically shown image and a zoomed-in version:

Now, imagine this on a whole new level: 3 dimensions.  Welcome to the Mandelbulb.

Check out this website for some magnificent pictures.  Make sure you watch the video too.  It is simply awe-inspiring.  It almost looks alive.
