Classic rock is a term usually used to refer to music between the years of about 1964-1989, typically excluding punk and New Wave. Examples would include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Boston, Electric Light Orchestra, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, etc.
What's your favorite branch of classic rock, and what are your favorite artists from the era?
Personally, if they count, my favorite branch is glam metal, from Poison, Bon Jovi, and the like. Though I like most of the other branches, too. I also enjoy blues rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Cream, and The Yardbirds, as well as 70's hard rock such as Bad Company, Queen, and Boston.

From that era I pretty much only like new wave, alternative, and goth. The main glaring exceptions are the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and Brian Eno, so I guess those are my answers.

Didn't you say you liked prog-rock bands such as Yes?

I do, although my interest in them has diminished greatly. I do still enjoy the occasional Relayer, Brain Salad Surgery, or Red though.
