Scratch can't open my project

I have been working hard on a project recently, and all of a sudden, Scratch won't open it anymore.  I don't know for sure, but I think I know what caused it.  I saw that my project was 11MB, so I compressed the images.  This didn't change the size at all, so I tried compressing the sounds.  I didn't have any sounds in the project, but the size was reduced to just under 3MB.  Did Scratch corrupt the file?  If not, why can't I open it?

if you can't open it, that means that the file is corrupted, and cannot be restored.  sorry...   hmm
